SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Senior Amanda Greenawalt broke a 1-1 tie early in the second period to give the Shippensburg University women's soccer team a hard fought conference victory over Gannon by the score of 2-1 Saturday afternoon at David See Field.

Shippensburg (3-1, 2-1 PSAC) was down early as Gannon struck first on a goal off the leg of Sarah Deck. The Lady Raiders answered in the 25th minute.

With the game tied at one, Greenawalt picked the perfect time to score her first goal of the season, as she found the net at the 52:25 mark to give the Lady Raiders a 2-1 lead they would not relinquish. Sophomore Katie Leverentz assisted on the score.

The Lady Raiders were able to score their two goals on 11 shots while Gannon was held to only one goal on 20 shots. Freshman Shelbie Rackley gets credit for the win with five second-half saves, while senior Megan Delio made two saves in the first half.

Shippensburg returns to action Monday, September 20 with a 4 p.m. road match at Seton Hill.
