SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Despite a strong effort in the second half, the Shippensburg University men's soccer team could not come away with a victory against PSAC opponent Gannon on Saturday afternoon from David See Field, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Golden Knights.
Shippensburg (2-4, 0-2 PSAC) found itself down quickly after goals from Tyler Hollingsworth and Evan Chate put Gannon 2-0 in the 38th minute. Sophomore
Alex Supplee answered quickly with a goal of his own late in the opening period to bring SU within one goal, but the Golden Knights scored on a penalty kick to go up 3-1 at intermission.

Michael Celius jumpstarted the Raiders in the second half by scoring just over five minutes into the frame to put SU behind by just one goal. Shippensburg was unable to close the gap any further, however, and Gannon held on for a 3-2 victory.
Gannon (5-1, 2-0 PSAC) and Shippensburg were even in corner kicks (8-8), fouls (13-13), and saves (7-7). Sophomore
Clay Sale made his 2010 debut and played the entire 90 minutes for the Red Raiders.
Shippensburg returns to action Friday, September 24 with a 4 p.m. road match at Lock Haven.
