Late Burst By Warriors Drops Lady Raider Lacrosse in PSAC Eastern Division Clash, 17-12

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's lacrosse team was within one goal of East Stroudsburg in the final 10 minutes of a PSAC Eastern Division clash on Saturday afternoon from Whitenight Field, but the host Warriors scored five unanswered goals to defeat the Lady Raiders, 17-12.

Shippensburg (5-4, 3-2 PSAC East) had strong offensive performances from senior Gayle Kuntzmann and sophomore Jessica Schubach. Kuntzmann scored four goals for the fourth time this season to complement a season-high eight groundballs and five caused turnovers while Schubach had a hat trick and three groundballs.

East Stroudsburg (7-2 PSAC East) held a 9-7 lead at halftime against the Lady Raiders but never led by more than three goals until the final five minutes of the game. The Warriors were able to capitalize on six free-position opportunities and were dominant in the circle, recording a 21-10 advantage in draw controls.

Junior Rachael Murray continued her strong play of late with a pair of goals, three draw controls and two groundballs. Freshman Lindsey Kennedy had a goal and five groundballs while juniors Katie Brewer and Karen Schnurr also added a goal for Shippensburg.

Shippensburg will remain on the road and face Millersville at 4 p.m. Tuesday in a PSAC Eastern Division clash.
