SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – More than 40 members of the Shippensburg University baseball alumni will be in attendance this Friday for a reunion luncheon at 11 a.m. before taking in the Red Raiders' PSAC Eastern Division doubleheader with West Chester beginning at 1 p.m. from Fairchild Field.
The group of alumni features two former baseball coaches integral to the history of Shippensburg University Athletics.
Art Fairchild, a 29-year baseball coaching veteran of Shippensburg who guided the team to a 662-360-8 record during his tenure, will be in attendance along with
Bill Corman, head baseball coach from 1961-65 and university athletics director from 1971-1982.
Among the SU hall of famers in attendance include
Jerome “Diz” Leamer,
Larry “Yogi” Rhone,
Sterling “Spencer” Keyes,
Bill Herigan,
Jack Roddick and
Ed Hammers. The group features many alumni from the late 1960s as well as other players throughout the storied history of Shippensburg University baseball.
