BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – A string of six unanswered goals by Bloomsburg in the final minutes of the first half proved to be an insurmountable deficit for the Shippensburg women's lacrosse team on Wednesday afternoon from Sports Stadium as the Lady Raiders dropped a 14-7 divisional clash with the Huskies to set up a must-win scenario on Saturday.

Shippensburg (8-8, 5-4 PSAC East) is now tied with East Stroudsburg for third place in the PSAC Eastern Division, as both teams are now one game behind Bloomsburg. The Warriors dropped a 16-9 decision to West Chester on Wednesday but defeated the Lady Raiders in the previous meeting this season, 17-12 from Whitenight Field. The two teams meet at 1 p.m. Saturday from Robb Sports Complex with the winner advancing to the postseason and the loser being eliminated from playoff contention.

Bloomsburg (11-5, 6-3 PSAC East) took control on Wednesday with its decisive 6-0 run beginning at the 12:19 mark of the first half on a goal by Samantha King. The Huskies built a 10-3 advantage with 1:42 remaining in the half, led by six at intermission and staved off the Lady Raiders during the final 30 minutes of play.

Senior Gayle Kuntzmann got the Lady Raiders on the board seven minutes into the contest. Trailing by three after the midway point of the first half, juniors Rachael Murray and Katie Brewer scored goals to keep Shippensburg in the game. Freshman Lindsey Kennedy, who assisted on Murray's goal, rounded out the first-half scoring with 29 seconds to play before intermission.

In the second half, sophomore Jessica Schubach bookended the Lady Raider scoring in the frame and assisted on a goal by senior Liz DiNunno. Schubach led SU on the offensive end with two goals and two assists while sophomore Meghan Kearney made 13 saves and also picked up nine groundballs.

Before Saturday's crucial game, a dedication ceremony for the new artificial turf surface will be held at 12:30 p.m. along with another ceremony for the 2010 senior class, which includes Kuntzmann, DiNunno, Lena Stoneburner, Lauren Marron, Sarah Petrucci, Sandy Sigel and Brooke Miller.
