SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Shippensburg University women's tennis team concluded its 2009-10 season with a number of valiant performances but dropped a 7-2 PSAC Western Division decision to Clarion on Sunday afternoon from the Robb Sports Complex Tennis Courts.

Three seniors concluded their collegiate careers on Sunday afternoon.

Senior #Jackie Kramer#, the team's No. 1 singles competitor for the past three seasons, fought hard once again against a strong opponent but dropped a 6-0, 6-2 decision to Jacklyn Metzger. She has competed in nearly 50 singles matches during her career. Kramer is set to graduate with a degree in elementary education with a focus on early childhood development and has been student-teaching this semester.


Senior #Ali Horvath#, the team's primary No. 2 singles competitor for the last two years, dropped the final match of her career to Haylee Gardner. Horvath, an art major seeking a secondary education certificate, competed in 13 singles matches this season and also competed at No. 3 doubles this season.



Senior #Kristen Herman# capped off her career with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 6 singles. She spent parts of three seasons with the team, including the duration of the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons. Herman re-joined the club this spring after being away from the program for three semesters.


On Sunday, Herman also teamed with freshman #Lisa Snader# for a rousing match at No. 3 doubles. The duo took a 7-6 lead and had gotten to double match point before the Golden Eagles rallied, forced a tiebreaker and won 7-5 in the extra session.

Sophomore #Hannah Lolley# also picked up a victory on Sunday, achieving a 6-2, 6-2 decision at No. 4 singles. Lolley led Shippensburg in singles victories this season, posting a 4-7 record at No. 4 singles.
