SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -
The Shippensburg University softball team was stymied offensively on an overcast and chilly Sunday afternoon by the Shepherd pitching staff, as the Lady Raiders dropped a doubleheader to the host Rams, 4-0 and 4-1.

Shippensburg (7-17) scored its lone run of the afternoon in the second game with a solo home run by sophomore Abby Block. Block and junior Hope Cornell were the only Lady Raiders to have a hit in each game, while junior Jill Mullan added a triple in the second game.

From the circle, junior Dana Ward pitched a complete game in the opener while sophomore Chelsea Kendall threw a complete game in the nightcap. Both pitchers allowed four earned runs. Each pitcher had just one bad inning in which the hosts scored a majority of their runs.

Shippensburg will resume PSAC Eastern Division play on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. from East Stroudsburg.
