SALEM, Va. - The Shippensburg University softball team earned two more victories on Saturday afternoon from the Salem Invitational, defeating West Virginia State 4-1 and Glenville State 4-3 before dropping a 6-0 decision in the nightcap to the University of Charleston.
In the opener against West Virginia State, senior
Kiley Abersold had two hits including a double, while junior
Jill Mullan and sophomore
Meg Lehman also had a pair of hits. Junior
Dana Ward threw a complete game for the victory.
Freshman
Kiersten Darhower earned her first career pitching victory in just her second career pitching appearance versus the Pioneers of Glenville State. Shippensburg got two-run singles from Abersold and junior
Hope Cornell while Ward entered in relief to get a save.
Shippensburg dropped the final game of the day to Charleston, 6-0.
The Lady Raiders will open PSAC Eastern Division play on the road Tuesday at 2 p.m. from West Chester.
