MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – An 18-1 run by the Marauders at the end of the first half proved to be the turning point for the Lady Raider basketball team on Monday night from Pucillo Gymnasium against No. 25 Millersville, as the Shippensburg University women's basketball team opened with a strong fight but ultimately dropped a 68-41 decision to the Marauders.
Shippensburg (12-14, 5-5 PSAC East) got 10 points from senior forward
Lauren Beckley, who enters Wednesday's game at Bloomsburg just 16 points short of the all-time PSAC scoring record. Junior forward
Kasey Gardner added nine points for the Lady Raiders, while freshman forward
Isabel Scott had seven points and four rebounds.
Millersville (19-4, 9-1 PSAC East) was led by 19 points from Ashley Moyer and 15 points from Mashira Newman. The Marauders committed just nine turnovers while forcing 20 and shot 41 percent from the field.
Shippensburg will hit the road to face Bloomsburg at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in a crucial PSAC Eastern Division matchup from Nelson Fieldhouse.
