MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The top two three-point defenses in the PSAC took to the floor on Monday night inside Pucillo Gymnasium but the statistics were thrown at the window as Shippensburg and Millersville combined for 23 three-pointers in a PSAC East shootout. By the time the dust had settled, it was Millersville who emerged with a 79-71 victory over the Red Raiders and put both teams in a tie for sixth place in the division.
Shippensburg (10-13, 3-7 PSAC East) held the Marauders to just 34 percent shooting from inside the three-point line, but the Red Raiders could not come up with a match for the offensive attack of Mike Seibert. The sophomore guard was 7-of-11 from three-point range and contributed a career-high 26 points for the Marauders.
Millersville (7-16, 3-7 PSAC East) shot 57 percent from three-point range, making 13-of-23 from behind the stripe. Jim Kelleher added four more three-pointers off the bench, while Palmer McDurfee added two trifectas in the second half that quashed some of Shippensburg's comeback efforts.
The Red Raiders trailed by just one point at halftime and remained down by the same margin with 14:57 to play. Millersville took control with a 15-5 run over the next four minutes that included four three-pointers and three free throws. SU was able to cut the deficit down to six points in the final 70 seconds, but the Red Raiders could not complete the rally at the end.

Craig Van Scyoc, the team's leading scorer in PSAC Eastern Division play, drilled four three-pointers for a total of 12 points.

Will Royal had eight points and 11 rebounds while junior guard
Justin Minter came off the bench with eight points and six rebounds.
Shippensburg will hit the road to face Bloomsburg at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in a crucial PSAC Eastern Division matchup from Nelson Fieldhouse.
