SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's basketball team held a three-point halftime lead against the nation's No. 12 team on Saturday afternoon from Heiges Field House and had four players finish in double figures, but visiting East Stroudsburg scored 50 points in the second half and shot 51 percent from the field to defeat the Red Raiders, 83-73.
Shippensburg (10-12, 3-6 PSAC East) had an outstanding first half and led by as many as six points in the opening frame. The Red Raiders had eight different players make field goals to start the game and had assists on each of their first 10 buckets. SU's defense limited the conference's top-scoring team to just 33 points in the first half.
East Stroudsburg (19-2, 6-2 PSAC East) got going at the start of the second half and established an offensive intensity that Shippensburg simply could not match. The Warriors scored the first five points of the second half and built a seven-point lead with 12:50 to play. ESU put the game away by shooting 18-of-29 from the field in the second half and getting to the free-throw line 16 times.

The Warriors also had four players score in double figures. Mike Tobin led all scorers with 16 points, while Andy Heimbach had 15 points and six assists. Robby Pines contributed 11 points and nine rebounds while freshman Marcus Brown had 10 points and five rebounds in 11 minutes off the bench.
Shippensburg will hit the road to face Millersville at 8 p.m. Monday from Pucillo Gymnasium. The game was rescheduled due to the snowfall in the region.
Notes: Shippensburg was 5-of-10 from three-point range in the first half but just 1-of-9 in the second half…the Red Raiders got to the free-throw line 31 times but made just 21 attempts, a 67.7 percent efficiency…Saturday's game marked the fourth time this season that SU had faced an opponent ranked in the nation's top 25…SU is now 5-2 this season when scoring 70 or more points…ESU has now won six straight games over the Red Raiders dating back to 2005...the 83 points allowed by Shippensburg is the most yielded by the team in regulation this season.
