SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. –
The No. 1-ranked Shippensburg University field hockey team concluded the home portion of its regular season schedule on Tuesday afternoon with an impressive 8-1 victory over PSAC Eastern Division rival No. 5 Kutztown. It is the 19th consecutive victory for the Lady Raiders.

Shippensburg (19-0) scored four goals in each half and wasted no time getting on the board – as the reigning PSAC West Player of the Week - junior Katie Pufnock – scored at 1:24 off an assist by freshman Bre White. Pufnock also scored at the 7:11 mark and assisted on the third goal of the game that was scored by junior Kristina Taylor.

At the 19-minute mark, SU had already established a two-goal lead, with sophomore Taylor Jones caging a goal off the 12th assist of the season by sophomore Ashley Taylor.

Kutztown (10-7) scored a goal late in the first half, but would not get any closer than its 4-1 deficit. The Golden Bears were out-shot 23-5 and their goaltenders were forced to make 12 saves.

SU added four goals in the second half during a 14-minute stretch of play. Sophomore Jamie Levy scored her first goal of the year, while Jones added another goal in between two tallies by sophomore Sam Langone. White assisted on the sixth and seventh goals of the game to finish the contest with three helpers.

Shippensburg will finish its regular season schedule at 1:30 p.m. Thursday against No. 4 East Stroudsburg. SU will be looking to finish the regular season with an undefeated record for the first time since 1977.
