SU lost this season's previous meeting but has played WCU tough in recent years

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - The Shippensburg University women's soccer team, seeded eighth in the 2010 PSAC Tournament, has earned a re-match with the Golden Rams of West Chester. The two teams will square off at 1 p.m. Tuesday in a conference quarterfinal matchup from South Campus Field.

Tickets to the PSAC Quarterfinal matchup will be sold at the gate. No advance sale of tickets is available. Prices are $7 for adults and $2 for students/children. Free admission is available to students from PSAC member institutions with valid school I.D. Conference passes will be accepted. No complimentary tickets are available.

Parking will be available in John A. Farrell Stadium's Q-Lot across the street from the soccer fields on South Campus. There will be no parking at the soccer field for the exception of handicapped parking, game officials, tournament personnel and league and school administrators.

This marks the second time under head coach Rob Fulton that Shippensburg women's soccer has reached the postseason. In 2006, Fulton's first year at the helm, SU qualified for the PSAC Tournament. SU also reached the postseason in 2002 under Guy Furfaro.

Despite the loss of three-time All-PSAC forward Gayle Kuntzmann, SU has totaled 35 goals this season - the most in a campaign since 2003.

SU sustained a 5-0 loss to the Golden Rams on October 12 in the previous meeting between the two teams. However, the Lady Raiders have provided stiff competition to the Golden Rams in recent seasons.

Last year's matchup at West Chester came down to the final two minutes. With the score tied, Shippensburg managed a corner kick and hit the crossbar and the goalpost in successive shot attempts before West Chester captured the ricochet, raced down the field and scored.

Both meetings in 2008 were one-goal decisions, and SU defeated West Chester in 2007 to snap a 42-match regular season winning streak held by the Golden Rams.
