SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The No. 1 Shippensburg University field hockey team extended its season-opening winning streak to nine on a cool Thursday afternoon from Robb Sports Complex with a 3-0 victory in a PSAC crossover contest versus No. 10 Millersville.

Junior forward Katie Pufnock scored the Lady Raiders' first goal with an unassisted strike 10 minutes into the game. The goal was Pufnock's fourth of the season.

Sophomore forward Emily Kohlbus scored Shippensburg's second goal off an assist from sophomore defender Ashley Taylor. Freshman forward Bre White scored in the 47th minute, her eighth goal of the year, to set the final score.

Shippensburg outshot Millersville, 19-5, including a 12-1 advantage in the first half. Lady Raider freshman goalkeeper Carenna Neely stopped a Millersville penalty stroke to preserve the shutout.

SU has limited its opponents to one goal or less in eight of nine matches this season.

Shippensburg makes its longest trip of the regular season this weekend, returning to action at 8:30 a.m. Saturday from C.W. Post.
