SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – When the Shippensburg University women's soccer team had scoring chances on Wednesday afternoon, it capitalized. SU received goals from senior Alison Dowdrick and freshman Meghan Mahon and controlled most of the tempo in a productive 2-0 win over East Stroudsburg from David See Field.

Shippensburg (8-3-1, 5-3 PSAC) exchanged chances with the visitors during the first half but frequently made the most of some solid runs. After drawing a corner kick in the 25th minute, freshman Rachel Hess sent a beautiful bender into the box that appeared to deflect off Dowdrick's head – ricocheting off the back of the ESU goalkeeper and into the net. It marks the fifth goal of the season for Dowdrick.

Less than two minutes before halftime, sophomore Katie Leverentz exuded her hustle up the far side and sent an exquisite crossing pass directly onto the foot of Mahon. The redirection of the shot eventually found its way into the far corner of the net and gave SU its 2-0 advantage that would last through the final whistle. It is the fourth goal of the season for Mahon.

Senior Megan Delio had a great first half in goal, recording a career-high seven saves. Freshman Shelbie Rackley made five saves in the second half to preserve the shutout.

Shippensburg will hit the road Saturday at 7:30 p.m. to face Bloomsburg.
