SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's soccer team concluded its 2010 regular season on Saturday afternoon from David See Field with a 2-0 loss to the No. 12-ranked Vulcans of California (Pa.). It is just the second home loss in nine matches this season from the friendly confines.
Shippensburg (10-6-1, 7-6 PSAC) finished the regular season as the No. 8 seed in the PSAC and will travel Tuesday to face West Chester at 1 p.m. in the quarterfinals of the postseason tournament. It is just the third time in school history that SU women's soccer has reached the PSAC tournament and the second time under head coach
Rob Fulton.
California (16-1-1, 12-1-1 PSAC) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Kayla Klimasko found the net just 2:09 into the contest. Bethany Smyda added a goal of her own at the 5:32 mark to give California a 2-0 lead that the Vulcans would not relinquish.
