EDINBORO, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's soccer team suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 loss at Edinboro on Saturday afternoon from Sox Harrison Stadium but at the end of the day clinched a berth in the PSAC Tournament, marking just the third time in school history that SU will be playing in the postseason.

Shippensburg (10-6-1, 7-6 PSAC) sits in seventh place in the conference standings with 21 points while Edinboro is just two points behind in eighth place. While the seeding may still change, SU can finish no worse than eighth in the league as a result of Clarion's Saturday night loss to California (Pa.).

Clarion and East Stroudsburg (15 points) are tied for ninth place and each has two PSAC games remaining - but at most either of the two teams can reach a tie with the Lady Raiders. SU defeated both teams in head-to-head matchups – giving the Lady Raiders the advantage in any potential tiebreaker scenario.

This marks the second time under head coach Rob Fulton that Shippensburg women's soccer has reached the postseason. In 2006, Fulton's first year at the helm, SU qualified for the PSAC Tournament. The squad also reached the postseason in 2002 under Guy Furfaro.

Graduate Laura Brown scored SU's lone goal of the match in the 34th minute of play after the Fighting Scots failed a clearing attempt. Trailing 2-1 in the final minute, freshman Ashley Vellucci fired a tough shot on net that had to be punched over the top of the goal by the Edinboro keeper.

Senior Megan Delio made three saves in the first half and freshman Shelbie Rackley made five saves in the second half.

Shippensburg will conclude the regular season at 1 p.m. Saturday from David See Field against nationally-ranked California (Pa.). SU will honor its senior class before the game.
