SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Sophomore
Katie Leverentz and junior
Brittany Hibshman each scored twice as the Shippensburg University women's soccer team cruised to a 5-1 victory over Mansfield Saturday afternoon from David See Field.
Shippensburg (7-3-1, 4-3 PSAC) jumped out to an early lead when Leverentz netted her first goal of the contest at the 8:45 mark of the opening period. Mansfield answered when freshman Leah Fuerst converted a penalty kick at the 21:02 mark to tie the game 1-1.
Ten minutes later, the Lady Raiders regained the lead when Hibshman recorded her first goal of the game to give SU a 2-1 lead. Less than a minute later, Leverentz netted her team-high seventh goal of the season to give Shippensburg a 3-1 lead heading into the intermission.
Hibshman added her second goal of the game at the 78:07 mark of the contest. Sophomore
Molly Sanders netted her first career goal late in the match to bring the final score to 5-1. The Lady Raiders outshot Mansfield 11-5 in the second period and 19-7 for the game.
