SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Senior Miles Harriger recorded his second consecutive game-winning goal and fourth overall this season on Saturday afternoon from David See Field as the Shippensburg University men's soccer team continued its historic season with an impressive 3-1 victory over PSAC rival Millersville.

Shippensburg (9-5, 5-3 PSAC) moved into first place in the PSAC standings with the victory and has guaranteed itself its first winning record in conference play since 1996 – the same year that the Red Raiders last qualified for the postseason tournament. Saturday's result also extended Shippensburg's winning streak to six matches – its longest run of consecutive victories since 1989.

The tone was set early when sophomore Michael Celius netted his fifth goal of the season with the match less than seven minutes old. The Marauders answered in the 25th minute with a goal by Dan Prian that tied the score at 1-1.

Five minutes later, Harriger worked his magic once again with a splendid volley from more than 20 yards out that went for his eighth goal of the season. Freshman Oli Templeton had an assist on the play. Through 14 games in 2010, Harriger has now totaled one more goal than the combined scoring output of his three previous seasons (54 games).

Millersville (7-4-1, 3-3 PSAC) was issued a red card in the 59th minute when one of its players made a dangerous tackle from behind against a Shippensburg player that was heading in on a breakaway. In the 75th minute, senior Dave Rostad netted his second man-up goal of the season and fourth overall with an assist going to freshman Derrick Roy.

Sophomore goalkeeper Clay Sale made four saves in the victory. The Raiders have allowed one goal or less in nine of their 14 matches this season, including five-in-a-row. SU has out-scored the opposition 14-4 during its current six-match winning streak.

The Red Raiders will play three non-conference matches over the next two weeks before its final PSAC contest of the year on October 30. Their next game will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday from Point Park.
