SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Shippensburg University women's soccer team controlled the offensive tempo for the majority of the first half on Friday afternoon from David See Field against No. 25 Kutztown but could not get the edge on the scoreboard, dropping a 3-0 divisional decision to the Golden Bears.

Shippensburg (6-3-1, 3-3 PSAC) had several scoring opportunities in the first half but was stymied by Golden Bear goalkeeper Casey Behrendt. Among the chances included a point-blank stop against junior Brittany Hibshman and a save at close range against sophomore Katie Leverentz.

Kutztown (7-2, 4-2 PSAC) took the lead in the seventh minute and extended it in the 67th minute when Carolynne Kahl finished a tap-pass from the edge of the goal box to put the Golden Bears up by two. The scoring finished in the 77th minute when a corner kick by Jen Pyne bent into the far corner of the net.

Freshman Shelbie Rackley made four saves in the second half, while senior Megan Delio made one stop in the first half.

Shippensburg will waste no time getting back on the field, as it hosts Mansfield at noon on Saturday.
