BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The top two teams in Division II field hockey took to the artificial playing surface of Bloomsburg's Sports Stadium on Tuesday afternoon, but the No. 1 Lady Raider field hockey team fell behind early and could not overcome the No. 2 Bloomsburg Huskies, dropping a 5-1 decision on the road.

Shippensburg (11-1) fell behind in the opening minute when Husky forward Maggie Bloskey scored an unassisted goal just 27 seconds into the game. The Lady Raiders could not answer until the 62nd minute when senior Laura Wylde, the reigning PSAC Western Division Player of the Week, redirected an entry feed from sophomore Kristina Taylor for her eighth goal of the season.

Bloomsburg (10-1) recorded a 14-9 margin in shots but made its opportunities count. Senior Amanda Houser was forced to make eight saves while patrolling the cage.

The two teams entered the contest ranked atop the nation in nine of the 11 major statistical categories tracked by the NCAA. Shippensburg leads Division II in goals-against average, shutouts, wining percentage, penalty corners per game and save percentage while Bloomsburg ranks atop Division II in scoring average, goals per game, scoring margin, and points per game.

Shippensburg returns to action on Friday with another road trip to face PSAC Western Division opponent Slippery Rock to start the second half of the divisional schedule. The match will begin at 4 p.m.
