Box Score
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Freshman
Alex Supplee scored the first goal of his career in the 68th minute while freshman goaltender
Clay Sale made a career-high 10 saves as the Red Raider soccer team battled to a 1-1 tie with PSAC Western Division opponent Gannon.
Shippensburg (0-5-3) continued to battle in the contest despite falling behind on a goal in the 61st minute. Neither of the two teams established a consistent territorial edge in the match, as Gannon's early rushes were countered by the Red Raiders with a strong offensive push in the waning moments of the second half.
Supplee's goal came on Shippensburg's first corner kick of the game. The initial volley into the box from junior
Dave Rostad ricocheted off a scrum and the resulting carum went straight to Supplee, who wasted no time depositing the shot into the upper ninety.
Gannon (3-5-2) got its goal from Dan Howell, who then nearly won the contest late in regulation but a shot rang off the post in the 89th minute. Sale, who started the game and then re-entered in the 58th minute after freshman
Andrew Foran was tackled outside the goalie box, had one of his strongest performances of the season to preserve the score at 1-1.
Shippensburg returns to action on Wedneday at 2 p.m. on the road at Seton Hill.
