SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Shippensburg University football team scored its most points in a game since 1999 and compiled 566 total yards on a rain-filled Saturday night from Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium while redshirt senior quarterback
Chad DiFebbo tied a school record for touchdowns in a 63-24 rout of Millersville.
Shippensburg (4-1, 2-0 PSAC East) received admirable performances from a slew of athletes in the contest, and the team averaged 8.8 yards per play. Through the air, DiFebbo completed 12-of-16 passes for 186 yards and five touchdowns to tie an SU single-game record. DiFebbo's effort marks the most passing touchdowns by a Red Raider signal caller since Chris Gicking threw for five touchdowns on Sept. 23, 2000 at Clarion.
Catching three of those touchdowns was redshirt senior split end
Mike Harris, who finished the game with five receptions for 99 yards. Harris is now second in school history for career receiving yards (2,450) and is just three receptions short of Jeff Zubia '83 for second place all time (160).
On the ground, redshirt sophomore tailback
Roshaan McCain. The young tailback broke a 74-yard touchdown run in the first half and finished with eight carries for 188 yards, the most by a Red Raider running back since John Kuhn on Oct. 30, 2004. McCain also finished with three touchdowns.
Overall, the Red Raiders ran for 354 yards on 45 carries, averaging 7.9 yards per rush. It is the most rushing yards for the team since producing 380 total yards on Oct. 27, 2007 against Lock Haven. Defensively, junior linebacker
Riley Bowen led the team with 11 tackles, while the Red Raiders compiled eight tackles for loss.
"We were in a dogfight, and we were the bigger dog," said head coach Rocky Rees.
