EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - The Shippensburg University field hockey team competed in its first road game of the season and dispatched a difficult opponent on Wednesday afternoon from Whitenight Field as the No. 3-ranked Lady Raiders defeated No. 7 East Stroudsburg, 3-0.
Shippensburg (3-0) has yet to allow a goal through three games this season while scoring 18 of its own. The Lady Raiders recorded 16 shots and 13 penalty corners on Wednesday while limiting the Warriors to just two penalty corners.
Sophomore
Kristina Taylor, who scored five goals and totaled 11 points last weekend, continued her offensive production with two more goals, including her second game winner in three contests this season. She opened the scoring with less than six minutes remaining in the opening half to give SU a 1-0 lead at intermission.
Senior
Kim Tully scored at 52:09 to extend Shippensburg's lead before Taylor added another goal less than two minutes later. Fellow senior
Amanda Houser made a season-high five saves while recording her first solo shutout of the season.
Shippensburg returns to action this weekend with a home matchup on Saturday against PSAC Western Division opponent Slippery Rock that will begin at 1 p.m. from Robb Sports Complex.
