SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - An overtime power play goal by senior Laura Wylde capped off a frenetic Thursday afternoon of field hockey from Robb Sports Complex as the No. 1 SU field hockey team weathered a second-half surge from visiting C.W. Post in a 3-2 victory.

Shippensburg (8-0) dominated the first 30 minutes of the contest and raced out to a 2-0 lead. In her 59th career game, senior defender Lauren Hollingsworth scored her first career goal by ripping a shot fivehole less than two minutes into the contest. Less than five minutes later, freshman Sam Langone added a goal to give the Lady Raiders a two-goal cushion.

C.W. Post (1-4) maintained a steady attack and capitalized in the final minute of the first half. Amanda Nann grabbed a pass from Krystal Napolitano and sent a shot into the back of the net, making the score 2-1 at halftime. A goal by Amy Lillis off a penalty corner at the 48:29 mark evened the score.

The Pioneers had the Lady Raiders on their heels during the second half, but the momentum began to swing back into Shippensburg's favor with 16:05 to play after senior goaltender Amanda Houser stopped a penalty stroke opportunity by Pioneer forward Amanda Nann.

Houser was a huge factor for the Lady Raiders on Thursday, providing several key stops and finishing the contest with seven saves. It was also the second straight year that Houser stopped a penalty stroke attempt by Nann. Houser dove right and made the stop on Thursday in the same fashion in which she denied Nann in a 4-0 road victory on Oct. 11, 2008.

Freshman defender Ashley Taylor was another defensive highlight in the contest for Shippensburg down the stretch, making several step-ups in overtime to help generate an offensive rush. It was one of Taylor's defensive reads in overtime that resulted in the green card on a Pioneer player which ultimately helped Shippensburg earn the victory.

Shippensburg will compete in its fourth match during a seven-day span at noon on Saturday when the Lady Raiders host Millersville from Robb Sports Complex.
