SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Shippensburg University women's lacrosse team rallied from a 4-3 halftime deficit on Wednesday afternoon from Keystone Field with eight goals in the second half en route to an 11-7 victory over PSAC Eastern Division opponent Kutztown that keeps the Lady Raiders in a tie for third place.

Shippensburg (7-6, 4-3 PSAC East) received solid offensive performances from senior Beth Long, sophomore Karen Schnurr and freshman Katie Brewer. Long netted a hat trick, while Schnurr and Brewer each scored two goals in the winning effort.

Juniors Gayle Kuntzmann and Liz DiNunno joined sophomore Rachael Murray and freshman Lauren Hauck on the scoresheet with goals while freshman Jessica Schubach chipped in with two assists. Freshman Meghan Kearney made seven saves to record the victory.

The Lady Raiders scored the first four goals of the second half to turn a 4-3 deficit into a 7-4 lead and most importantly held the Golden Bears to just one run over the final 16 minutes of the game. With the win, Shippensburg stays tied with East Stroudsburg at 4-3 in the division but holds the tiebreaker after winning the previous meeting.

On Saturday, Shippensburg will team up with visiting IUP to participate in “Lax 4 Life” on Saturday, April 11 when the two Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference squads face off from Robb Sports Complex at 1 p.m.
