Three Lady Raiders Score Goals But Women's Lacrosse Drops 18-4 Decision To No. 9 Gannon

ERIE, Pa. - The Shippensburg women's lacrosse team played in its second road game in a 42-hour span on Saturday morning and faced a difficult opponent in the No. 9-ranked Golden Knights of Gannon. The Lady Raiders could not come up with the victory in the PSAC crossover, dropping an 18-4 decision.

Shippensburg (5-5) received two goals from sophomore Karen Schnurr along with one goal each from juniors Gayle Kuntzmann and Liz DiNunno. Defensively, freshman Meghan Kearney made five saves in defeat.

Despite the loss, the Lady Raiders held an advantage in groundballs (15-14), draw controls (13-11) and caused turnovers (8-7) while firing just three fewer shots than the Golden Knights. Gannon goalkeeper Acacia Cook made 12 saves to help the Golden Knights in the victory.

Gannon (7-2) led by a 2-1 margin after the first seven minutes but erupted for seven consecutive goals to take a commanding lead. The Golden Knights held an 11-2 lead at halftime and had two players (Mary Eshenour and Taryn Millerd) score at least six goals in the game.

Shippensburg returns to action on Wednesday from Robb Sports Complex when it hosts Millersville. The opening draw is set for 4 p.m.
