Box Score

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Sophomore Rachael Murray scored seven goals for the Shippensburg women's lacrosse team on Monday afternoon from Robb Sports Complex but the Lady Raiders could not sustain a halftime lead against PSAC Eastern Division rival Bloomsburg, dropping a 16-15 decision to Bloomsburg.

Shippensburg (4-4, 1-2 PSAC East) held a 9-5 lead at halftime after establishing solid offensive zone time while capitalizing with three first-half free position goals. The Lady Raiders fired 16 first-half shots toward the cage and made the most of their opportunities in the Husky end of the field.

Bloomsburg (4-1, 1-2 PSAC East), however, took control of the territorial edge in the second half, using the momentum established by two quick goals in the opening minute of play after the break to begin dictating the pace. The Huskies won 22 of the 33 contested draw controls in the match while also picking up 24 groundballs as a team.

Murray became the first Lady Raider to score seven or more goals in a game since Kim Hudicka netted eight goals in a 18-8 victory over IUP on Apr. 29, 2006. Her performance marks the most goals scored by an individual player for head coach Naomi Radio, who is currently in her third season with the team.

Junior Gayle Kuntzmann once again had a stellar offensive production with three goals while winning two draw controls and recording two caused turnovers. Junior Sandy Sigel scored twice off the bench, while sophomore Karen Schnurr, freshman Lauren Hauck and freshman Katie Brewer each scored a goal for the Lady Raiders.

Despite the 31 combined goals in the contest, freshman Meghan Kearney had a solid game in goal for Shippensburg, making 13 saves including several point-blank stops.

Shippensburg returns to action on Thursday with a PSAC Eastern Divisional contest at East Stroudsburg. The opening draw is set for 4 p.m.
