SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Shippensburg University women's tennis team opened the spring portion of its 2008-09 schedule on Saturday with a 5-4 morning victory over Bowie State and a 9-0 afternoon sweep of Cheyney.
Shippensburg (2-8) received strong performances from junior
Jackie Kramer, sophomore
Jess Lodek and freshman
Hannah Lolley. Kramer and Lodek won their singles matches against Bowie State by 8-1 and 8-2 scores before earning an 8-0 victory at No. 1 doubles. Lolley recorded an 8-3 win at No. 5 singles and teamed with sophomore
Monica Berardi for an 8-1 victory at No. 3 doubles.
Shippensburg will host Kutztown next Saturday at 1 p.m. from the tennis courts at the Robb Sports Complex.
