SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Shippensburg women's basketball team had 10 different players score at least two points on Wednesday evening from Heiges Field House but the Lady Raiders could not overcome a slow first half, dropping a 79-53 decision to West Chester in PSAC Eastern Division play.

Shippensburg (10-10, 4-3 PSAC East) received another valiant performance from junior forward Lauren Beckley, who led all scorers with 20 points while making 3-of-5 three-pointers on Wednesday night. She passed current assistant coach Jen Scaffidi '05 on the school's all-time scoring list and now sits in sixth place with 1,586 career points.

Several players received additional playing time on Wednesday evening, and one of the players who provided valuable minutes off the bench was junior forward Shelley Wasser. In eight minutes, Wasser had two points, two rebounds, two assists and one steal.

Freshman Jenn Morrow had six points and three rebounds in 10 minutes off the bench and made all four of her free-throw attempts. She was a part of a Lady Raider contingent that shot 42 percent from the field in the second half.

Shippensburg trailed by just one point at the 13:00 mark of the first half, but a Golden Ram full-court press helped key a run for the visitors that kept Shippensburg in an offensive rut.

West Chester (14-6, 6-1 PSAC East) moved into sole possession of first-place in the PSAC Eastern Division with the victory. The Golden Rams forced 26 turnovers and scored 30 points off turnovers as well as racking up 50 points in the paint. Janelle Garber led the visitors with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

The Lady Raiders will continue their three-game homestand on Saturday afternoon from Heiges Field House in a PSAC Eastern Division Contest against Mansfield that will tip at 1 p.m. Shippensburg defeated the Mountaineers on January 14 to open conference play, 80-69.
