EASTON, Mass. - The Shippensburg University field hockey team has advanced to the 2009 NCAA Division II Semifinals and will take on the No. 1-ranked Bloomsburg Huskies at 2 p.m. on Friday from W.B. Mason Stadium on the campus of Stonehill College. The winner will advance to the National Championship game to be held on Sunday.

Tickets for each game are $7 for adults, $4 for students/seniors and $1 for children (2-12). All-session pass rates are $12/$6/$3. All calls regarding tickets should be made to (508) 565-1384.

Shippensburg (20-2), the No. 2 seed in the South Region, looks to avenge a 3-2 overtime loss to Bloomsburg in last year's national semifinals and a 2-1 overtime loss to the Huskies in this year's PSAC Championship game.

Bloomsburg (20-1) earned a bye after capturing the No. 1 seed in the South Region. Friday's game will be the first game in the tournament for the defending national champions.

Entering the national tournament, Bloomsburg and Shippensburg stood first and second respectively in scoring average and shots per game in the PSAC. Bloomsburg leads the season series 2-0.

Last weekend, Shippensburg defeated East Stroudsburg 3-0 in the opening round of the playoffs to earn the second NCAA postseason victory in program history. Sophomore Kristina Taylor and freshman Ashley Taylor netted goals while senior goalie Amanda Houser added nine saves in the net.

The winner of Friday's game will advance to the Division II National Championship game that is slated for Sunday at 1 p.m.
