SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – A sensational volley by sophomore forward
Dee Barlee was not enough for the Shippensburg University men's soccer team on Tuesday evening from David See Field as the Red Raiders dropped a 3-1 decision to West Chester in PSAC Eastern Division play.
Shippensburg (0-7-4, 0-3-2 PSAC East) fell behind 2-0 in the first half but gained significant momentum heading into halftime when Barlee reacted to a clear in the final minute by firing a radical shot from nearly 20 yards out that soared above traffic and into the top right corner of the net for his first goal as a Red Raider.
West Chester (3-5-2, 1-3-2 PSAC East) extended its lead in the 51st minute when Ricky Williamson added his second goal of the game by flicking a loose ball over his back that soared over freshman goaltender
Clay Sale and into the top right corner of the goal. Sale finished the game with two saves for Shippensburg.
The Red Raiders will return to action on Saturday at 1 p.m. with a PSAC crossover contest at California (Pa.).
