SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Shippensburg University will host the 2009 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Field Hockey Championships on Friday, October 30 and Saturday, October 31 from Robb Sports Complex. Tickets will be $7 for adults and $2 for students, while any student attending a PSAC member institution can receive free admission with proper identification.
Shippensburg, by virtue of its top seed in the Western Division, hosts this year's championship and will compete in the second semifinal matchup on Friday at 2:30 p.m. against Kutztown. The first semifinal matchup on Friday will be held at noon and pits Bloomsburg, the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Division, against Mercyhurst, the No. 2 seed in the Western Division. The two winners will meet in the championship game at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Bloomsburg (18-1, 7-1 PSAC East, No. 1 in Division II) has won 15 of the 30 contested PSAC Championships, including two straight. The Huskies lead the nation in scoring average and scoring margin while limiting opponents to just 14 goals this season. Sophomore Amanda Riley ranks second in Division II with 22 goals this season while senior goaltender Caitlin Koczynski has compiled a .813 save percentage and an 0.83 goals-against average.
Shippensburg (18-1, 7-0 PSAC West, No. 2 in Division II) has won all 11 of its home games this season while ranking atop Division II with 11 shutouts through 19 total games. The Lady Raiders have also relinquished just 14 goals this season. Leading the offense is sophomore

Amanda Houser leads Division II with a save percentage of .859 and a goals-against average of 0.72.
Kutztown (12-7, 4-4 PSAC East, No. 7 in Division II) is ranked fourth in the NCAA Division II Southern Region ranking for the third consecutive week. The Golden Bears dropped a 1-0 overtime decision this weekend at C.W. Post and are the only team to defeat Bloomsburg this season.
Mercyhurst (9-7, 5-3 PSAC West, No. 8 in Division II) is scheduled to face Seton Hill in a non-conference match on Wednesday afternoon before clashing with the Huskies on Friday. The Lakers, making their first postseason appearance as a member of the PSAC, feature the offensive talents of Emily Warren. The senior midfielder leads the team with 12 goals, including four game-winners, along with 28 total points.
