SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Redshirt freshman Michael Celius and redshirt junior Miles Harriger each scored a goal while freshman goalkeeper Clay Sale made five saves in his first career shutout as the Red Raider soccer team recorded its first victory of the season by blanking Shepherd, 2-0.

Shippensburg (1-8-4) fired 15 shots and recorded eight corner kicks against homestanding Shepherd (5-8), striking first in the 21st minute when Celius converted a pass from freshman Taylor Hudson. SU forced Shepherd keeper Derek Munro to make 11 saves in the contest.

The Red Raiders sealed the win in the 83rd minute when Harriger scored his second goal of the season by finishing a pass from redshirt freshman Chris Schlegel. SU's victory ended a 24-match winless streak that dated back to Sept. 17, 2008.

Shippensburg returns to action on Sunday with a 1 p.m. match from David See Field against Gettysburg.
