Box Score

CALIFORNIA, Pa. - The Shippensburg men's soccer team produced what was arguably its strongest effort of the season on Saturday afternoon in a PSAC crossover contest against reigning conference champion California (Pa.) but allowed a goal to Mike Luecke in a 1-0 loss to the Vulcans.

Shippensburg (0-8-4) was facing the sixth-ranked team in the Atlantic Region but held significant territorial edges during the contest against the Vulcans. Sophomore Dee Barlee and freshman Bill Heatherly each fired two shots on goal, as Cal keeper Derek Yobbi was forced to make seven saves.

California (10-3) got its goal from Luecke in the first half off an assist from Felipe Souza. The Vulcans only out-shot the Red Raiders by one (13-12) as the two teams each recorded five corner kicks in the contest.

Shippensburg returns to action at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday with a road match at Shepherd.
