SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The No. 2 Shippensburg University field hockey team continued its winning ways on Saturday afternoon from Robb Sports Complex as the Lady Raiders raced to an early lead and ultimately earned a 3-1 victory over No. 3 East Stroudsburg in a PSAC crossover contest.
Shippensburg (15-1) took the lead in the sixth minute of the game when sophomore
Kristina Taylor scored off an assist from senior
Lois Kaschenbach. Freshman
Sam Langone caged her seventh goal of the season at 15:59 off an assist from Taylor as the Lady Raiders held a 2-0 halftime lead.
East Stroudsburg (12-3) answered at 45:18 when Brittany Kocis scored unassisted. Answering less than four minutes later, sophomore
Katie Pufnock scored her fifth goal of the season to give Shippensburg the 3-1 lead.
Senior goalkeeper
Amanda Houser made six saves in the second half and helped the Lady Raiders fight off the Warrior offensive advances down the stretch. SU held a small advantage in shots (14-12) and penalty corners (7-6).
Shippensburg returns to action at 4 p.m. on Tuesday with a road crossover at Millersville.
