Shippensburg Men's Basketball Squad Drops PSAC Eastern Division Contest At Cheyney, 62-51

Miller and Graff each contribute 13 points for the Raiders

CHEYNEY, Pa. - Junior forward Daziah Miller posted double figures off the bench for the 11th time in 13 games this season and red-shirt freshman Lamar Drayton racked up 10 points and six steals but the Raider basketball team could not develop an offensive rhythm against Cheyney on Saturday, dropping a 62-51 decision from Cope Hall.

Shippensburg (10-9, 2-4 PSAC East) got a combined 23 points, seven rebounds and six steals from Miller and Drayton in 40 minutes off the bench. The duo also hit 11-of-15 attempts from the free-throw line but the rest of the team was just 7-of-14 from the charity stripe.

Red-shirt junior Derrick Graff posted 13 points and eight rebounds on Saturday to record his 17th double-digit performance in 19 games this season. Graduate guard Ryan Kraft added seven points, five rebounds and two assists.

The Raiders trailed by as many as 16 points in the second half but cut their deficit to six points with 35 seconds to play after a steal from Drayton, but the Wolves iced the game with three free throws down the stretch.

Cheyney (12-5, 5-1 PSAC East) was led from the field by junior Tyrone Smith, who finished with 15 points, eight rebounds, four assists and four steals. Dominique Curry had 14 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals while Hakeem Townsend added 10 points off the bench.

Shippensburg will return to action on Wednesday evening with a home game against West Chester. The contest will tip from Heiges Field House at 8 p.m.
