DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - Red-shirt sophomore
David Sunderland recorded a major decision at 157 pounds and the Shippensburg wrestling squad won three weight classes on Tuesday night but the grapplers could not overcome an extremely talented group of Aggies from Delaware Valley College, dropping a 38-10 decision to the No. 3 squad in Division III.
Shippensburg (6-4-1) earned all of its points at the end of the match in the final three weight classes. Red-shirt junior
Nate Nauroth got the Raiders on the board with a 7-1 decision over Dale Fava that improved his season record to 7-5.
Sunderland responded with an 11-1 major decision over Don Smith that bumped his season record up to 5-3. Senior
Jake Wilson spun a reversal in the second overtime rideout to earn a 3-1 sudden victory at 165 over Justin Barowski.
Delaware Valley (15-1-1) won the first seven weight classes to take control, including forfeits at 133 and heavyweight. The coin flip at the start of the match determined that the meet would begin at 174 pounds.
Shippensburg is back home next Saturday for a dual meet against Waynesburg from Heiges Field House. The dual meet is set to begin at 7 p.m.
