Amanda Strous proved to be the game-winner for the Shippensburg field hockey team as the Lady Raiders earned a 2-1 victory on Sunday afternoon in its first-ever PSAC crossover contest. Junior
Amanda Houser made four saves to earn her third victory of the season.
Shippensburg (3-0) opened the scoring in the first half by converting a penalty corner opportunity. Senior
Kim Davies scored her fifth goal of the season off an assist from fellow senior
Carolyn Swift.
In the final minute of the first half, Strous connected for her second goal of the season off an assist from senior
Kim Davies. A goal in the 49th minute from April Sutton brought the final margin of the game to 2-1.
The Lady Raiders once again held a territorial advantage, recording 10 penalty corners to just two for East Stroudsburg, while also recording a 14-8 margin in shots.
Shippensburg will open its conference schedule on Wednesday at 4 p.m. when they travel to IUP to take on the Crimson Hawks. IUP was ranked atop the PSAC Western Division pre-season poll while the Lady Raiders were ranked right behind them.
