Men's Soccer Battles to 0-0 Tie Against Bloomsburg In Divisional Clash

Patke makes six saves for his first shutout of the season

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Shippensburg men's soccer team earned its first point in conference play by battling to a 0-0 on Saturday afternoon against PSAC Eastern Divisional opponent Bloomsburg. The teams combined for 24 shots in the contest while battling a steady downpour that deteriorated the field conditions.

Red-shirt senior goalkeeper Brad Patke earned his first shutout of the young season and third of his Red Raider career by making a game-high six saves, bringing his total to 24 through three games. His save on Eric Simonds in the 108th minute preserved Shippensburg one point in the standings.

Seniors Austin Alfonsi and Mark Thompson recorded all three of Shippensburg's shots on goal in the game, as Husky goaltender David Leiendecker made stops on each. The teams combined for three yellow cards.

Shippensburg (0-1-2, 0-1-1 PSAC East) will host East Stroudsburg on Tuesday at 4 p.m. from David See Field.
