MANSFIELD, Pa. - The Shippensburg women's soccer team dropped a heartbreaking 2-1 decision on the road Tuesday afternoon in a key PSAC Eastern Division matchup at Mansfield, as Mountaineer forward Natalie Adams netted her second goal of the game with just seven seconds left in regulation.
After a scoreless first half, Shippensburg broke the tie with a breakaway goal from sophomore
Alison Dowdrick at 63:31 of the second half. The advantage would not last long as just seven minutes later Mansfield's Natalie Adams put a rebound goal past goal keeper
Beth Long.
The teams remained deadlocked until the final minute of regulation when Adams struck again for Mansfield, netting a shot from eight yards out to give Mansfield a 2-1 lead with seven seconds remaining.
Shippensburg held a 18-14 shot advantage for the game as well as holding the edge in corner kicks, 4-1.
Long made nine saves in the losing effort.
