Beth Long made two saves to record her fifth solo shutout of the year as the Lady Raider soccer team capped off a three-game week with a 2-0 road victory over the Rams of Shepherd University.
Shippensburg (6-1) finished its week by extending its winning streak to three games and outscoring its opponents 10-0. After starting the season with a shutout streak of 370:54, Long has now reeled off another scoreless streak of 262:48 and has made 20 saves in the team's three-game winning streak.
On Sunday, Greenawalt maintained a solid offensive pace for the Lady Raiders by netting a goal in the 19th minute off an assist from sophomore Alison Dowdrick. After out-shooting the Rams 7-4 in the first half and forcing Shepherd's Lauren Vetock to make six saves in that span, Shippensburg extended its lead in the 77th minute with an own goal.
For the third consecutive game, Shippensburg's offense produced multiple scores and totaled double-digit shots. Against the Rams, the Lady Raiders totaled a 13-8 advantage in shots and a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks. Through seven games this season, Shippensburg has only allowed 21 corner kick opportunities (an average of three per game) while totaling 43 of its own (an average of six per game).
Shippensburg is 2-0 on its season-long six-game road streak. It continues its travels on Wednesday with a 4 p.m. match at Mansfield.
