KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Shippensburg University women's tennis freshman
Monica Berardi battled Kutztown's Tess Wright to a 7-6 decision in game one at number five singles before earning a point in game two, but those were only points the Lady Raiders could get in six singles matches as the Golden Bears handed Shippensburg a 9-0 loss in non-conference action Tuesday.
In addition to Berardi's 7-6, 6-1 loss, the team of senior
Kathy Henley and sophomore
Ali Horvath earned Shippensburg's only points at number two doubles before losing to Sabrini Arnaud and Kristen Struble, 8-3.
The Lady Raiders will look for their first win in six spring matches and first since a 7-2 victory at Chestnut Hill on October 18 when they conclude the 2007-08 season at Bowie State on Thursday. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m.
Shippensburg has won its last three matches against the Lady Bulldogs, including a 6-3 decision in the last match between the two schools back on Mar. 28, 2007.
