Lady Raider Lacrosse Falls on the Road at No. 4 West Chester, 21-6

Sophomore Gayle Kuntzmann recorded her third hat trick in the last five games for the Shippensburg lacrosse team, but No. 4-ranked West Chester scored the first 11 goals of the game and raced out to an 18-1 lead before dispatching the Lady Raiders on Saturday, 21-6.

Kuntzmann opened the scoring for Shippensburg (4-10, 4-7 PSAC) by making a spirited run downfield and beating two Golden Rams' defenders with a shot past West Chester goalkeeper Mary Beth Green while falling to the ground. She led the team with seven shots, including five on goal, to go along with four ground balls.

Senior Katie Irwin, sophomore Sandy Sigel and freshman Stephanie Sleboda also added goals for the Lady Raiders, while sophomore Brooke Miller made 10 saves in the cage for Shippensburg on the afternoon.

West Chester (13-1, 11-0 PSAC) was led by five goals from Nicole Haines, while Claire Grimwood, Stephanie Kienle and Jackie Baker all added hat tricks for the Golden Rams, who have now won 36 consecutive matches in the PSAC.

Shippensburg will be in action on Monday when it travels to Lock Haven to face the No. 5-ranked Lady Eagles. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
