Stephanie Belanger won her final home match as a Lady Raider while fellow senior
Kathy Henley played her final match at Robb Sports Complex as the Shippensburg tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to the Crimson Hawks of Indiana (Pa.).
Belanger dropped her first set 6-4, but rallied for a 6-2 victory in the second set that forced a tiebreaker. After falling behind 9-5 and coming within one point of dropping the match, Belanger rallied for five consecutive points to take a 10-9 lead in the tiebreaker.
The two competitors exchanged points to bring the score to 11-11, and Belanger came through for a 13-11 win in the tiebreaker that gave the senior her first victory since a 7-5, 6-2 decision against Cheyney on Sept. 16, 2007.
Freshman
Jess Lodek earned the other Lady Raider victory on the day with a 6-4, 6-3 decision.
Shippensburg will travel to Kutztown to conclude its PSAC schedule this Tuesday with a match at 3:30 p.m.
