Friday's Home Baseball Doubleheader With IUP Moved Up to Noon

4/10/2008 12:41:21 PM

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Due to the forecast of rain showers on Friday in the Cumberland Valley, the Shippensburg University baseball team has moved ahead its start time for tomorrow's PSAC Western Division doubleheader with Indiana (Pa.) by one hour. First pitch from Fairchild Field is now set for Noon.

It is the third consecutive Friday that the Red Raiders have been forced to modify their schedule due to weather. Home doubleheaders against Slippery Rock on March 28 and Clarion on April 4 were each postponed one day due to rain.

After its eight-game win streak was snapped with non-conference losses to Shepherd at home on Tuesday and Kutztown on the road Wednesday, Shippensburg returns to PSAC Western Division play with a key four-game series against the Crimson Hawks this weekend.

Both teams enter Friday's doubleheader tied for first place atop the division with identical 6-2 conference records, one game ahead of California (Pa.) and two in front of Slippery Rock. The Red Raiders and Crimson Hawks will conclude their four-game series on Saturday with a doubleheader at Owen Dougherty Field beginning at 1:00 p.m.
