SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Courtney Whiting scored a game-high six points to lead No. 4-ranked West Chester to its 29th consecutive PSAC victory as the Golden Rams won their fifth-straight game, 22-2 over Shippensburg Saturday afternoon at Robb Sports Complex.

The loss snapped a two-game win streak for the Lady Raiders (2-4, 2-2 PSAC) and a three-game home winning streak. The last loss for Shippensburg at home came back on Apr. 21, 2007 to sixth-ranked Lock Haven, 16-3.

West Chester (5-1, 4-0 PSAC) blew open a seven-goal halftime advantage by outscoring the Lady Raiders 14-1 in the second half after Shippensburg held the Golden Rams to just eight first half goals which marked their second-lowest total in half during their current five-game win streak. In a 16-5 victory over Millersville on March 22, the Marauders held West Chester to just five goals in the second half.

Whiting was one of four Golden Rams who totaled at least three goals, netting a hat-trick. Jackie Baker also scored four times while Gabrielle Stitz had three goals. Baker also had five points after finishing with four goals and one assist.

Stephanie Kienle, a finalist for the 2008 Tewaaraton Award Watch which recognizes the top female varsity collegiate lacrosse player in the United States and 2007 PSAC Player of the Year, was held to just one goal but also added two assists to finish with three points.

After West Chester opened a 4-0 lead in the game's first 10 minutes, Shippensburg got on the board when sophomore Liz DiNunno scored her eighth goal of the season at 16:58.

The Golden Rams then scored the game's next 10 goals to take a 14-1 lead before sophomore Stephanie Sleboda netted her seventh with 21:22 remaining in the second.

Despite being out-shot 35-10 and committing 22 turnovers, the Lady Raiders totaled 19 ground balls which were just one behind West Chester who totaled 20. Shippensburg also had 11 draw controls compared to 15 for the Golden Rams.

In goal, Mary Beth Green made five saves for West Chester while sophomore Brooke Miller had seven for the Lady Raiders.

The schedule does not get any easier for Shippensburg as it hosts No. 6-ranked Lock Haven on Wednesday, April 2 beginning at 4:00 p.m. On Saturday, the Lady Eagles, who lost 20-8 at West Chester earlier this week, defeated Millersville at home, 25-13.
