SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Shippensburg University lacrosse team gave up the opening goal of the game to Slippery Rock on Tuesday at Bob DeSpirito Field and responded by scoring 19 unanswered goals en route to a 19-1 conference victory over The Rock. Eleven different players scored for the Lady Raiders, who out-shot Slippery Rock 43-14.
After Caitlin O'Brien scored within the first three minutes to give Slippery Rock the lead, senior
Brita Paul responded less than 30 seconds later with a tally to tie the score at 1-1. Paul finished the game with three goals to give her nine on the season, as the senior leads the team in points with 14 through five games.
Shippensburg (2-3, 2-1 PSAC) closed out the first half by scoring nine more goals in a 15-minute span, including four from sophomore
Stephanie Sleboda. Junior
Hannah Sperber, senior
Kelly Smith, junior
Kelly Erisman, sophomore
Erin Bergstrom and junior
Beth Long all scored a goal before the teams took a break for the half.

Sandy Sigel both scored twice in the second half, while senior
Allie Rutland and freshman Rachel Murray netted goals to lead Shippensburg in their highest scoring output of the season.
Sophomore
Brooke Miller once again manned the cage and provided several strong saves, finishing the game with seven. Defensively, the Lady Raiders also recorded 31 ground balls to Slippery Rock's 22 and earned 14 of the 21 contested draw controls.
Shippensburg will return to home to face off against conference powerhouse West Chester in a PSAC matchup from Robb Sports Complex that begins at 1 p.m.
