Lady Raider Soccer Drops Heartbreaking 2-1 Double Overtime Decision to Bloomsburg

Long makes seven saves; Greenawalt scores for Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Senior keeper Beth Long made seven saves and sophomore Amanda Greenawalt scored her fifth goal of the season, but it was the visiting Huskies of Bloomsburg that scored a goal with 3:25 remaining in double overtime to earn a 2-1 victory in a crucial PSAC Eastern Division matchup Saturday night from David See Field.

Shippensburg (9-7, 3-6 PSAC East) allowed a goal in the seventh minute of the game from Lauren Hess but answered with Greenawalt's goal in the 16th minute off an assist from junior Gayle Kuntzmann. The Lady Raiders held a 9-4 shot advantage in the first half.

Bloomsburg (11-3, 6-2 PSAC East) took over the momentum in the second half, out-shooting Shippensburg 17-3 before overtime and 21-5 over the final 60 minutes. Kristine Preski scored the game-winner for the Huskies on a loose ball in the crease.

Shippensburg returns to action on Tuesday in a 4:30 p.m. match from David See Field against PSAC Eastern Division opponent Mansfield.
