INDIANA, Pa. - Red-shirt sophomore center Derrick Graff maintained his efficient scoring pace by recording a career-high 31 points to go along with 11 rebounds for his third career double-double, yet the home-standing Crimson Hawks had four starters post double figures to earn a 74-63 over the Shippensburg men's basketball team Wednesday night inside Memorial Field House.
Shippensburg (6-14, 0-5 PSAC West) trailed by just six points at halftime, 34-28, but opened the second half by falling victim to 16-4 and 12-2 runs that gave IUP (11-8, 3-1 PSAC West) a 25-point lead with 8:06 to play. The Red Raiders closed the game by outscoring the Crimson Hawks by a 26-12 margin.
Eighteen of Graff's 31 points came in the second half, as the red-shirt sophomore has now scored in double figures in 10 of his last 11 games. It is the second consecutive game that Graff has scored at least 20 points, as the center scored 21 on Saturday at Clarion.
Graff made 11-of-16 from the field and also converted 9-of-12 from the free-throw line after making just 1-of-6 attempts in his last game against the Golden Eagles.
Red-shirt junior guard Ryan Kraft was the only other Red Raider in double figures, as he totaled 16 points that included four three-pointers. Shippensburg's three other starters, however, finished the game combining for just nine points on 3-of-20 shooting from the field.
The Red Raiders held IUP under 50-percent shooting from the field, but could only muster a 39-percent total of their own. The Crimson Hawks also finished the game shooting 43.5 percent from behind the three-point line, converting 10 of their attempts from distance.
Indiana was led in scoring by freshman Darryl Webb, who totaled 26 points and eight rebounds. Sean Christensen added 14 points, while Jordan Shaw contributed 11 points and five assists.
The Red Raiders will continue their five-game road trip on Saturday when they travel to Slippery Rock. Game time against The Rock is set for 3:00 p.m.
